Galen Manning
Author and AI Innovator
Galen Manning is a healthcare technology innovator and first-time author whose passion for storytelling through data took an unexpected turn when he decided to capture his grandmother's remarkable life story. With over 25 years of experience translating complex data into meaningful narratives, Manning brings a unique perspective to biographical writing by combining traditional oral history methods with cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology.
Manning's journey to becoming an author began during Christmas 2023 when he gave his grandmother, Nadene, a book of questions designed for grandmothers to share their memories. What started as weekly conversations to record family history evolved into something much more ambitious when Manning discovered Dr. Robert Pearl's innovative use of generative AI in authoring ChatGPT MD. Inspired by this intersection of technology and storytelling, Manning embarked on a mission to preserve his grandmother's legacy in a way that would honor both her traditional values and embrace modern innovation.
As a healthcare analytics expert, Manning has spent his career helping hospitals and physicians translate data into better patient outcomes. His work with bundled payment models and clinical program analytics at INTEGRIS Health has given him a unique appreciation for the power of narrative in healthcare – understanding that behind every data point is a human story waiting to be told. This perspective proved invaluable as he wove together over 500 questions and answers into a coherent 45,000-word narrative spanning nine decades of his grandmother's life.
Manning's background in technology stretches back to his high school days, where he pioneered desktop publishing for his school newspaper while later serving as Editor-in-Chief. After graduating college summa cum laude with a degree in Computer Science and later earning a Master's in Telecommunications Management, he founded a successful technology consulting firm before transitioning to healthcare informatics. This diverse experience has equipped him with the perfect skill set to bridge the gap between traditional storytelling and technological innovation.
"Nadene's Journey" represents more than just a grandson's tribute to his grandmother; it's an exploration of how artificial intelligence can help preserve and share personal histories in meaningful ways. Manning's approach to this biography mirrors his professional philosophy: that technology, when thoughtfully applied, can enhance rather than replace human connection.
Manning holds multiple professional certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA), and remains actively involved in advancing healthcare analytics and payment reform. His work continues to focus on finding innovative ways to measure and improve what matters most in healthcare: the human experience.
When not working on healthcare innovation or writing, Manning can be found in Oklahoma City, where he continues to explore new ways to use technology to improve lives and preserve stories that matter. "Nadene's Journey" is his first book, but he hopes it will inspire others to use similar innovative approaches to capture their own family histories.
